The 2008 Upstream Walk raised over $160,000!

The fourth annual Upstream 50km challenge to raise funds for various projects was held on 15th of November 2008.

500 participants headed out from Docklands upstream along the Yarra enjoying the beautiful parks and walking tracks that Melbourne has to offer. Those who managed to complete the gruelling 50km were able to enjoy a BBQ with family and friends awaiting them at the finish in Donvale.

The fastest individual female and male times were set by husband and wife, Robert and Shey Hall; in a time of 3:47 and 5:06 respectively. Robert not only set the fastest time for 2008 but also the fastest ever recorded time for this event.

The fastest time set in our team category was by team Scooter, consisting of Darren Mooney and Nikki Wynd, in a time of 4:38.

Not only is this personally a great challenge it’s also aiding in improving lives both locally and overseas. So far the 2008 event has risen over $160,000. 100% of all money raised goes directly to the following three projects; beyondblue, water filter project in Cambodia and vocational training for leprosy sufferers in India.
