All participants in the Challenge must observe the following rules:

  1. Each person, whether registered as a individual or team, must raise a minimum of $200 to participate in the event
  2. If you do not raise the $200 minimum, you may not be eligible to participate in future events
  3. Participants are required to donate a portion ($50) of the minimum fundraising commitment during registration. It is tax deductible and 100% will go to their chosen beneficiary
  4. Participants registering as an individual in the 50km or 20km Challenge must be aged 18 or over.
  5. All participants in a 50km team must be over the age of 12. All participants in a 20km team must be over the age of 8.
  6. A ‘change of team member’ form must be completed for 50km teams prior to the start of the Challenge if any replacements occur. No changes will be allowed once the event is in progress.
  7. Identification will be provided to all participants and must be worn and clearly displayed on the front at all times during the event.
  8. Each participant must be self-sufficient, so a support crew is highly recommended. The support crew is responsible for providing food, water, changes of clothes and transport during the event.
  9. There are five checkpoints along the trail including the finish for the 50km Challenge and two checks points for the 20km Challenge. Each participant must check in with event staff at each checkpoint before continuing on.
  10. Any participant who is injured must call the Upstream Challenge emergency number, which will be provided closer to the event.
  11. If you want to withdraw during the event, you must first report to the nearest checkpoint.
  12. In order to withdraw, the participant must complete a retirement certificate at one of the checkpoints.
  13. If a participant has not departed a checkpoint by the nominated closing time, the participant will be withdrawn from the event and advised not to proceed. If you choose to do so, it will be at your own risk.
  14. Do not drop litter. Participants and support crews must respect the environment and use the litter and recycling bins along the event course or at the checkpoints.
  15. Smoking is not permitted on the trail or at checkpoints due to Parks Victoria regulations.
  16. Any participant that requests and is issued a receipt book must return it (even if it is not used) by the specified date. It is a legal document and failure to return it will mean a stat dec will need to be submitted.
